The rights of indigenous peoples have become an important component of international law and policy under the impetus of movements led by indigenous peoples. The Working Group on Indigenous Populations has played a pioneering role in this regard, a role that continues to be led by the Human Rights Council and its mechanisms, in cooperation with other important actors, including the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
This Declaration is the most comprehensive instrument in international law and policy, as it sets out in detail the rights of indigenous peoples and establishes minimum standards for their recognition, protection and promotion.

Church for indigenous people
Democratic Republic of Congo is a country in Africa that been affected by war for many years. The Congolese population has been going through an endless insecurities. Among these populations, you have the indigenous people on the eastern side who were greatly affected by this war. The war has caused them to lose their way of living and it’s have left them with nothing in return. Due to the war and conflict mineral, Congolese indigenous have lost their ancestral lands and their ways of living.
Before the indigenous were known to be living as hunter-gatherers, they survived from the resources they found in the forest. However, since the discovery of minerals and natural resources in the national parc Kahuzi Biega in Bukavu South Kivu, the indigenous population were chased out of their native lands to which they could assert no legal title. In consequences, the indigenous population was scattered across the country trying to support themselves in an alien environment, their society has withered. The Parenteau family none profit organization called New Life have sent funds to help build latrines, in the process of building a water well and also sending funds to help build a community garden. After asking the village’s chef what else they would like, they said that they would like it if we were to help them build a church.
The improvement of health for these people does not end at clean water and proper latrines. Our foundation is currently in the process of raising funds and accessing supplies to build a clinic in one of the highest poverty-stricken areas of Kinshasa
